Fred is CLEAR's very own Ted, with a mission to help younger children to talk about and understand difficult thoughts and feelings, and to promote kindness and thoughtful behaviour towards others.
How Fred started
The Adventures of Fred & How He Got His Powers Back is a book created by CLEAR Ideas, our children and young people’s coproduction group, in conjunction with The Writers Block. Written for children by children and young people with experience of trauma, the book explores difficult situations, how these can affect our feelings and how therapy can help.
Fred’s Next Adventure
Fred the Ted can’t wait to visit your school! He’s super excited to meet your students, share his wonderful story, The Adventures of Fred and How He Got His Powers Back, and leave a copy with each class to enjoy. With the help of your amazing Teachers and Teaching Assistants, Fred’s visit will be full of fun and learning!
Fred also has some fantastic resources he can send your way! These can be printed out and used as part of your lesson planning, tailored to each key stage. It’s all about making Fred’s visit as magical and meaningful as possible!
Through Fred’s stories and activities, we hope to reach children early on, encouraging them to talk about anything that might be worrying them. Fred will help them understand the importance of positive relationships, being kind and respectful, and knowing when to ask for help if something doesn’t feel right.
By introducing these important lessons early, we can help prevent difficult experiences and support the emotional well-being of every child. Fred’s visit also aims to build strong, healthy relationships—between the children themselves, and within the communities they’re growing up in.
