What Happens Next

If we need further information, we will contact you by telephone or email. If we have all of the information we need, the referral will be reviewed to see if we can provide the support requested. This review includes:

  • The type of support that is needed – we do our best to match children and young people with the most appropriate type of therapy
  • Availability of therapists – we have a team of therapists working across Cornwall and will try to match client’s and therapists on a geographic basis to minimise travel. Availability of therapists will affect waiting times.
  • Funding to support therapy - the majority of our therapy is funded through direct purchasing from schools and the Local Authority Social Care teams. Our grant funds and charitable donations vary from year to year and are directed towards children and young people who have no recourse to other funding. This means we cannot use these funds where there is an obligation on statutory services to support the child or where there are publicly commissioned services that can deliver the support needed. The commissioned service for children and young people aged 5 upwards affected by abuse is Safer Futures. CLEAR therapy can also be purchased directly by individuals at £60 per session. This rate will be reviewed in August 2023. Where there is a waitlist in place, direct purchase does not reduce waiting times.

When your referral has been accepted the allocated therapist will make contact with you within 2 weeks to arrange an initial meeting. Meetings will usually last for 1 hour and will take place in a location that is mutually agreed – often at a family centre or school where there is a private facility. If you prefer, meetings can take place at our offices in Truro where we have a range of facilities for children and young people of all ages. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay for any travel costs incurred. If the child or accompanying adult (where applicable) has a disability please contact us so that we can ensure the meeting venue meets your needs.

If you are unable to attend your appointment please contact your therapist or the CLEAR office team by phone or email.

There is no charge for cancellations with more than 24 hours notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or non attendance will be charged at the full price.
