Welcome to CLEAR. We are a Cornwall based charity with a vision for a community safe and free from abuse, with opportunity to flourish after trauma.
We are dedicated to the highest levels of care and support for people of all ages and all genders impacted by abuse and other emotional trauma. Our mission is to help children, young people and adults to heal from harm caused by abuse and emotional trauma and to prevent abuse from occurring.
We are proud to be a member of the Survivors Trust Survivors and are the only all-age service in Cornwall.
Our organisation is registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and our counselling and therapy services are accredited by the BACP. Our counselling and therapy services work to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
What we do makes a difference. From 1-2-1 therapy for people of all ages and genders, to our workforce wellbeing support, our services are focused on preventing and reducing the harm caused by emotional trauma and building emotional resilience and wellbeing. You can see our full range of services here on the website.
Delivery is through practitioners with specialist knowledge and training. Our therapists and counsellors are trained, qualified and registered with the appropriate governing body such as the BACP. Our services are monitored and evaluated against national standards with insights gained from feedback used to continuously improve and develop what we do.
We offer a supportive and therapeutic environment where children, young people and adults, parents, carers and professionals can access appropriate advice and information and explore their experiences through individual and group work. Our referrals process helps us to fully understand each individual situation and match it to the service that best meets your needs – you can see our suite of therapies here

Our 1-2-1 therapy for children aged 0-17 offers a range of trauma focused and creative therapies. Details of these are on our website. We also provide psycho-education and therapeutic parenting support for parents / carers to help them support their children through and beyond therapy.
We provide a range of 1-2-1 counselling and therapy for adults affected by sexual abuse, sexual violence and traumatic crime. This may have occurred at any point in their lives. Our Hope for Harm service provides counselling for adults who self-harm.
We deliver a range of courses and workshops that build understanding of mental health, trauma and abuse. These are tailored to different audiences and include L3 Safeguarding, Mental Health First Aid, Bystander Training, Peer Support Training, Positive Relationships and Emotional Wellbeing, and Understanding Self-Harm.
We play an important role in developing the future workforce including our fully accredited L5 Diploma in Working Therapeutically with Children and Young People, and our CPD endorsed Supporting Adults Harmed by Sexual Abuse and Relational Trauma.
CLEAR for Business helps organisations to support workforce wellbeing and employee engagement promoting increased attendance, productivity and staff retention. There is a broad menu of support including: business training, resources, policy development, 1-2-1 confidential counselling for individual employees, and critical incident support.
The demand for our services is ever increasing. We support over 1,000 people of all ages in Cornwall each year through our 1-2-1 services and many more through group and family work and in schools and colleges. The average age of the children and young people we support is 9, and the number of 0-4 year olds being referred to us is increasing year on year. There is a growing need for our ground-breaking work with unemployed adults with complex barriers.
We are grateful to the funders who believe in what we do and to our local supporters.
There is more work than ever to be done and as with many things, less resources available to do it. If you are interested in what we do and can help us through fundraising or other support, we would love to hear from you.
We highly value your feedback on our service. It helps us understand what we do well, where we can make changes to improve what we do and where we can grow in terms of developing our services. You can provide us with feedback here
