To Truro and Beyond! CLEAR Launches “Fred’s Fund” to help Children to Flourish After Trauma

Cornish charity CLEAR is proud to announce the launch of Fred’s Fund, a heartfelt new initiative designed to help children across Cornwall access the therapy they need to heal from abuse, violence and other emotional trauma.

Freds Fund launches on Truro Children’s Day Saturday, 21st June 2025. This exciting event, organised by Truro BID, will mark the beginning of Fred’s journey to raise funds across Cornwall.

Carolyn Webster, CEO at CLEAR said: “Right now, CLEAR receives more referrals for children than we have funds to support. Fred’s Fund is a shout out to business and individuals across Cornwall to say that a £10 donation can change a child’s future. It’s a simple ask, and we hope every business in Cornwall can respond”

Fred is a small bear with a big heart. No ordinary bear, Fred was created by CLEAR Ideas, a group of inspiring children who have previously received support from CLEAR. Through Fred and his special book, CLEAR Ideas are reaching out to other children to say: “it’s okay to ask for help.”

Thanks to some start-up funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, Fred has been visiting primary schools across Cornwall, helping children to talk about thoughts, feelings, friendships, and how to ask for help when things are difficult.

Fred will be centre stage and available for photo opportunities on Truro Children’s Day at the CLEAR stand on Lemon Quay where children can also enjoy crafts and activities – including making their very own superhero mask!

Before sending him off across the county, CLEAR is inviting Truro businesses to kickstart Fred’s journey by donating £10 or more. Donations can be made on the day at the CLEAR stand, online via Freds Just Giving page at or in person at the CLEAR shop at 8 Cathedral Lane, Truro.
