CLEAR 4 Schools with Aviva Community Fund and Crowdfunder
CLEAR has teamed up with the Aviva Community Fund and Crowdfunder to raise funds that would make a real difference – by training groups of young people to become Peer Supporters in their schools, helping other young people by being a listening ear and a go-to for support.
Carolyn Webster, Chief Executive of CLEAR, said: “We think that one of the best ways to build an inclusive, respectful and supportive culture is to help schools to help themselves. We've developed a pretty awesome Peer Support Programme that will train groups of young people to become Peer Supporters in their schools. Sometimes it's easier to share feelings with someone who is more like you, and Peer Support is a great way to do this.
“Even better, Peer Supporters will gain accredited qualifications and skills that will be useful for life. They will be helping themselves, helping others and helping to create sustainable change.
“The Aviva Crowdfunder is a great opportunity to for us to raise funds to help children through these challenging times.”
We know that many children have been adversely affected by the restrictions arising from Covid-19. Whether that is increased risk of abuse to themselves, exposure to domestic abuse of family members; anxiety about parents or family members at risk because they are key workers; or trauma arising from separation and loss. Now more than ever, there is a need to help children and young people to build resilience and to know how and where to get help.
At CLEAR we have a great team of therapists who are specifically trained to help children and young people aged 0-18. We have over 12 years’ experience of working with children and our service is accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. This means we meet high standards of clinical practice, safeguarding and good governance. We are the only accredited children's therapy service in Cornwall and one of only 3 in the South West.
