Fred is CLEAR's very own Ted, with a mission to help younger children to talk about and understand difficult thoughts and feelings, and to promote kindness and thoughtful behaviour towards others.
How Fred started
The Adventures of Fred & How He Got His Powers Back is a book created by CLEAR Ideas, our children and young people’s coproduction group, in conjunction with The Writers Block. Written for children by children and young people with experience of trauma, the book explores difficult situations, how these can affect our feelings and how therapy can help.
Fred’s Next Adventure…
Fred, with help from his friends at CLEAR is keen to attend primary schools to gift and read his book with children followed by a discussion guided by the class Teacher / Teaching Assistant around feelings and emotions. If schools want this to be guided by a CLEAR Child Therapist, this is an additional option.
We can then invite children within schools to write a sequel to Fred’s book. Participating schools will have their entry judged by CLEAR Ideas, with the winning entry becoming the second book of Fred’s Adventures. For primary schools, this offer would sit within Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED) and also add value to English Literature and Language.
